Outfit of the day
Hey, hey my beautiful people! Welcome back to another blog from your girl. I hope y'all are doing well and ready to check in with your favorite drink in hand!
On March 17th, Four of my friends and I decided to take a day trip to Nashville, TN to see JoJo live. If you think I'm talking about Jojo Siwa just know that you are wrong. If you don't know who I'm referring to it's okay ( this time) because I'm about to put you on. I am referring to Joanna Noelle Levesque ( Yes I had to use her government name), but her stage name is JoJo. This queen is vocally talented and her music speaks for itself. I highly recommend that you take a moment to explore some of her music, even if you just listen to one song.
Now let's get into this road trip with my homies.
The concert was set to start at 8 pm, so we decided to leave Memphis at 11 am. We jammed all the way there with no restroom breaks because we don't do any of that stopping. Does anybody else hear their mom screaming, " Better use the bathroom before we leave the house"?
Once we arrived in Nashville we decided to go straight to the Green Hills mall to get into some shopping. Since we don't have a Zara back home, we couldn't leave the city without visiting the Nashville location. If you haven't shopped at Zara, then I recommend you explore their online store and browse their items. They have great pieces for every occasion. I actually wore my Mom jeans from Zara for the day( in the picture above) and they're my favorite pair of jeans. Nashville's location is two stories, so best believe me when I say that you have plenty to look at. By the time we finished shopping, we were ready to pick our lunch spot.
We chose North Italia because it’s located in the Green Hills mall and was very convenient. The restaurant is really nice on the outside and on the inside. We would've sat outside, but on that day the wind was “winding”. It didn't take long for the hostess to seat us and it definitely didn't take us long to decide on our drank (yes I said drank... I'm setting the mood) and food orders. Honestly, when it comes to my drink order, give me a vodka + redbull or titos + cranberry combo and I'm good.
This restaurant had its own specialty cocktail menu. I'm not lying to ya'll when I say the cocktail ingredients resembled a foreign language to me. I had no idea what to pick, so I just let the waitress have the final say on that subject. When it came down to the food my mouth was watering for the Chicken Parmesan pasta. Of course when she brought out our drinks they were so cute. All I am going to say is that the bartender did what he had to do even though all I knew is that I was drinking clear alcohol. The pasta was my favorite part because every bite was just amazing and full of flavor. I also want to mention that they have a Squid Ink Mafaldine pasta. One of my friends tried it and said that it was good, but I was going nowhere near that option. If you get a chance to try that unique dish let me know what you think about it. I'd go back to that restaurant for sure.
To waste some time before we had to head to the concert we decided to go to Pinewood Social for our final stop. As soon as we walked in I noticed that they had couches and sofas for lounging. As we made our way to our table I was surprised to see that they had a fairly nice-sized bowling alley towards the back. In the middle of the restaurant there was an area, not too far from the bar, where you could sit and plug up your computers. This place is perfect for those hard workers that need a place to get some work done or get those assignments completed.
You could go to this place, work hard on that essay, get it turned in at 11:59 pm, then hit the bar up. You could even get your bowling on to celebrate that hard work you just put in. We just came to get our drink on, so I have no idea what their food was giving. On their cocktail menu they had a Frose and blood orange margarita that were both very well made. If you want to see how delicious they looked I posted them on my instagram on my concert reel.
Ok, so about the concert…
The concert was being held at the Cannery Ballroom. As soon as we arrived there, there was a line already waiting for us outside of the building. Luckily we got there in just enough time before the line had gotten too long.
Every time we start to think that Covid is releasing its hold on our lives, it finds its way to remind us of its presence. As soon as the security asked to see our concert tickets he followed up by asking for our vaccination cards. When I tell you that they weren't playing when it came to having your vaccination card -- they weren't letting people in without it ( no they didn't care if you paid for your ticket). When we got inside the building we could see that everybody was getting their beverages for the show.
I honestly recommend grabbing a cold water bottle if they're available because it gets hot quickly and we don't want to be passing out. When I tell you that we were packed like sardines in front of that stage. The good news is that we were able to find a good spot in front of the stage.
Throwback to when I went to see H.E.R. live in Atlanta, the majority of my view was staring straight into a very tall man's back ( I was not happy). I'm just so glad I didn't have to go through that this time because it was not enjoyable.
Let's get into the beautiful women that she had opening for her...
Her first opener was Lindsay Lomis, and she's actually from Nashville. With her guitar, she performed a couple of original pieces that she wrote. Lindsay and Jo Jo shared the stage together to perform their most recent song, "Slow motion". I honestly love their voices together on that song. The last opener was Tanerelle. I've come across her on social media, but I hadn't listened to any of her music. I enjoyed being able to experience her voice for the first time live. I recommend exploring both ladies' music whenever you get the chance.
Now once Jo Jo hit the stage the whole building was on 10. As always she blew me away with her voice and her beauty. Some songs that she performed that were my favorite were, "Demonstrate", "Spiral Szn", "Anxiety", and "Dissolve". Those songs can be found on her most recent album, Trying not to think about it. She also performed "Love on the brain" by Rihanna. Even though I love me some Ri Ri I really wish she would've kept that song and sang" B.I.D.", which is also on her recent album. The overall experience was very enjoyable and engaging. She was so engaged with the crowd that as soon as a fight broke out, she stopped in the middle of her performance, yelling " No fighting".
This day trip with my friends was very much needed. It was a good break from my everyday schedule. If you don't have the time right now to take a long trip somewhere, then I advise anybody to take a road trip somewhere close. It's the perfect alternative. Just get in the car with your friends, pet, family, or even just yourself. Make that time to at least give yourself that day to take a break from your demanding schedules.
Before I close out our check-in session, here are some of the best pictures that I have of the beautiful ladies from the show:

Alrighty, I hope you all have enjoyed my rant about my day trip and hopefully you make time to plan one for yourself soon!
Until next time my loves,
Lady V
